TOE TO TOE: Adidas AE 1 'Ascent' Low vs Mid! In Depth Performance Review and Comparison.
The Adidas AE 1 has been one of the hottest sneakers of 2024, and definitely the most exciting basketball sneaker this year. It is also now available in a low cut, and on July 20 Adidas dropped an 'Ascent (MX Grey)' pack in both the mid and low cut for $120 and $110 respectively.

In 2008 Kobe Bryant played in his first Olympics, leading the United States to the gold medal while remaining undefeated. Even though Kobe wore the Hyperdunks during the tournament, Nike released a Kobe 4 colorway in 2009 to celebrate his gold medal achievements. 15 years later Nike is bringing back this colorway and I couldn't be more excited. The '90s was defined by bold, outrageous and outlandish designs. Perhaps no other shoe than the Air More Uptempo represented my favorite decade better, and one of the best colorways was worn by Scottie Pippen in the 1996 Atlanta Olympics. Kobe Bryant has one of the most successful signature shoes and recently we've seen a lot of Kobe Protros (Performance Retros). Two of my favorites have been the Kobe 6 Protro 'Reverse Grinch' and the return of the Kobe 4 Protro 'Philly'.
I put these two sneakers toe to toe, compare them according to four metrics - colorway, cushioning, traction, support and lockdown and pick one shoe that I'd choose if I had to.
